07 March 2015: Mutual encouragement in Knaresbrough

Another weekend, another Worship Works Day.  This time, Roger took with him Mary, Helen, Yvette, Ann, Chris and Barrie for the weekend in Knaresbrough, just to the north of Leeds.  The day had come about by special invitation from Brian Hoare, one of the great Methodist hymn and song writers of the last few decades.  Gracious Street Methodist Church in the town, under the leadership of Rev Gail Hunt and her husband Deacon David Hunt, was incredibly welcoming, warm and focused ahead of the day.  The music in the church is ably led by Mike and Hilary, and it was a pleasure to meet all of those involved and to work and worship with them.
We were looked after very well, and the day was a great blessing both to the CMM team and to the good number who attended from Gracious Street and other local churches.  It was a real joy to minister in a situation where the organising team were looking for encouragement in what they had already been working on, rather than to be demonstrating something completely new.  There was a great openness and commitment to moving forward in worship - particularly worship that gives God space to speak and move by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Roger very much enjoyed spending time with Brian Hoare, and sharing together all of their experiences with composing over the years.

Sunday lunchtime was a great opportunity to discuss all that had been taught, and to discover mutual friends.  As well as to enjoy good food too!
