28th February 2015: Worship Works in Thornbury

On Saturday Roger and Annie travelled to Thornbury, to the north of Bristol for a Worship Works day at the Baptist Church there.  Caroline Finney, one of our soloists for many years, had the initial idea for the day, and much of the organising work then passed on to the amazing church administrator, Heather Staley.

Many of those who attended were former members of Thornbury Music Ministry.  TMM was an inter-church choir formed not long after Roger started touring with his musicals.  The choir kept going for about 25 years, and this Worship Works day was a wonderful opportunity for a reunion.

Roger and Annie were supported by Caroline, Jassica, Paul, Jackie, Sam and Wendy.  Jassica had only been involved with a couple of smaller events in the West Midlands before, so it was great to put her through her paces.  It was also wonderful to have Jackie on sax and her son Sam on drums.  They brought with them an excellent violinist and guitarist from their church too.

One of the highlights of the day for Annie was being able to play her viola over people.  This is where people are engaged with Jesus and receiving from the Spirit, and Annie walks among the congregation, blessing what God is doing using her instrument.

Roger was delighted with the day, and particularly pleased with the large number of new email contacts and potential future invitations.  It was lovely to renew friendships, and to worship Jesus together, open to the power of the Holy Spirit at work in us.
